On your weight loss journey you want to make sure that your mindset and thoughts are rooted and based in God’s True Word.
A lot of times women have untrue negative self talk that they speak over themselves, It is really important to remember this Proverb, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:21)
Being diligent about the words that you say over yourself is really important. The words that you say have a big influence and when you draw attention to them you realize how negative and destructive those words can be. I encourage you to not only bring your attention to your thoughts, but to also replace them with these powerful affirmations based off of God’s Word
Look in the mirror. What do you see? What thoughts are running through your head? Is a swirl of insecurities filling your head? Words that if spoken to your child or best friend, would make you rise up and fight? If you are anything like me and most women that inner monologue is doing you no favors. You are beautiful, valuable and treasured, but your mind is filled with deception. Those words are deceptive and will pull you off track focusing on the wrong things. You may be taking detours to ask if you are good enough, if you are worthy of attention, if you are ugly. That dialogue is what Satan is trying to get you focused on, he wants your head full of worry and self- doubt to keep you out of the game!
We feel an emptiness, a void that just seems insatiable. We are starving for something. We are longing for love, acceptance, significance, and hope. .Everyone seems to toil with feelings of dissatisfaction at one point or another. We feel depleted, weak, insignificant and overlooked without any hope. We are hungry to be filled. We often feel everything is meaningless and fall into traps that can lead us further down the dissatisfaction path. We often feel that, “Everyone’s toil is for their mouth, yet their appetite is never satisfied.” (Ecclesiastes 6:7) Continually working and striving, doing anything to meet our need. Trying to buy ourselves satisfaction. Trying to make anything fill our void whether it be clothes, food, cars, people, power, career, or money, none produce lasting success. We are hungry for more. We work tirelessly to achieve and then we realize we need more. There is always something else we see and desire. We need to practice taking a step back and look at our desires. We need to really examine what is behind them.
Psalm 27:1 “The Lord is my light and my salvation -- so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger so why should I tremble?”
Judges 6:14 “Go in the strength you have”
This bible verse by itself can be encouraging thinking about God being your number one cheerleader rooting for you and telling you to act. But let’s take a second to read the verse just before this in Judges 12-14
When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.” “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.” The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
