You just binged, or  you just ate something unhealthy. You are feeling upset and frustrated. You feel like you are stuck in a cycle that you cannot escape. First of all, I want you to know that you are by no means alone. Second, there is abundant grace for you. Please do not beat yourself over this. Stop the judging it is not sustainable to never let yourself have something with zero nutritional benefit.  You want to be healthy, and you do not need to have a 100% perfect diet to be healthy. We just need to have some way to grow from our food choices and experiences to bounce back to be stronger mentally and get back into our healthy eating habits. Here are some tips to help you break the cycle and become unstoppable!
  1. Receive His Grace- It is important to remember that an overall healthy lifestyle living for God is not easy, but as we come to Him in the Throne Room of Grace He takes over the heavy lifting. We see Him and lay down our lies and insecurities leading us to thanksgiving and praise for Him as He overcomes our issues that are too large for us.
  2. Check in with yourself - check in with hoe you feel after you ate. Check in with any other lurking issues at hand. For me if I overeat there is typically something else going on, whether it is stress, not getting sleep, being upset, these things have a way of blocking out God’s Word’s and Love making it hard for me to find the truth. I do not feel His love and security leading me to a place of insecurity. For me I have to be more proactive in seeking Him, and identifying if there are other practical things I need to do, such as, sleep more, journal, listen to music, say no to a commitment, have a spa day. Be honest with yourself about why you ate, if you are unsure this is okay, but at least ask yourself: Was it in response to a stressful situation? Did you feel social pressure to eat? Were you bored? Were you missing a friend or family member?Write it down and think about something you can do right now to aid in this area right now and in the future.
  3. Start Positive Self Talk - Have affirmations that are based on what God says about you and repeat them throughout the day. Aim for 7 times throughout the day! Those negative thought keep you in you unhealthy cycle, but God’s Words that are full of life can renew your life and cause a shift.
  4. Regroup Right Now - Once you think about it regroup. You do not need to wait for tomorrow. Do a quick prayer for strength and grace and start getting back to teh healthy habits you want to add to your life
  5. Drink Water - Stay hydrated, it helps you to feel better, and helps prevent some mindless snacking
  6. Do Not Skip a Meal - Break the unhealthy over/ under eating cycle. Do not starve yourself as a punishment it only reinforces a negative mindset. We want to enjoy our healthy food and live in a healthy mindset!
  7. Load up on Vegetables - get lots of fiber, get nutrients that you may have missed from other meals. Eat a rainbow and remember how good it feels to have healthy food.
  8. Workout - Do a favorite workout, something you love to do, even try something new and exciting. You can always grab a friend for extra motivation!
  9. Get Quality Sleep - Do your best to block out your windows at night, get in a quiet, cool room, and avoid screens 1 hour before bedtime.
You were born to live an overcoming, full life!
