He brought me forth also into a broad place;
He rescued me, because He delighted in me.
~ Psalm 18:19
How often do you look in the mirror and delight in yourself? How often do you see what you have done and been delighted? I am going to guess it is not that often, and definitely not as often as God delights in you. He knows every little detail about you and delights in every single thing.
You may read the Bible and see God’s hatred for sin, making you think that as a sinner God hates you or is disappointed in you. Every time you mess up God is there shaking His head and distancing Himself from you. This is far from the truth. Jesus knows all the missteps you will take, in your own strength you do not stand a chance, which is why He went to the cross for you. He loves and delights in you, always. He delights in His creation. No matter how many times you fall, God is there delighted to pick you up and be with you.
Can you say that with me, “God love to pick me up when I fall. He delights in me.”
Ultimately, He loves you so much, He just wants to be with you. It is true that sin separates us from a Holy, perfect God, but Jesus made a way for us to be His children. Children with access and children that God wants a relationship with. You may be upset and feel like a failure, but listen for God’s quiet whispers of love. Listen to what He says about you as you read your Bible. Listen to Him as you pray to Him. He is near you and delights in you.
There is nothing that can separate you from His love.
The Lord has taken away His judgments against you,
He has cleared away your enemies.
The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst;
You will fear disaster no more.
16 In that day it will be said to Jerusalem:
“Do not be afraid, O Zion;
Do not let your hands fall limp.
17 “The Lord your God is in your midst,
A [e]victorious warrior.
He will exult over you with joy,
He will [f]be quiet in His love,
He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.
~ Zephaniah 3:16-17
God delights in you!
