How Christian Women Can Eliminate Emotional Eating

Losing weight can be difficult, especially when emotions get involves. A lot of times when people really breakdown what is preventing their weight loss it points to emotions and a lack of emotional health.

Luckily, we can work on this and avoid the common pitfalls of not addressing the deeper issue.
Instead of just addressing emotions on the surface there is a deep desire driving the unwanted action.

For example, some people are driven by the desire to find a companion to fit in, to be viewed as accomplished. This deep desire can be hindering your lasting weight loss.

It is really easy to overlook this, but facing it is key!  

Here are my 3 ways you can face this head on:

1 - Look at the big desires fueling these emotions. It may be being upset because you are not accomplishing your goals and not being as successful as you would like. Your motivation and desire for success and achievement may be hindering your health goals. It would be best if you could hand these over to God and allow Him to tell you your significance and true value.

2 - Look at what is driving your actions those deep desires can be getting in your way. Ask God what is motivating you. Reflect on your actions and why you are doing them. You may even want to do a personality test to see your motivations and pitfalls. This will help you to turn to God with these desires and get them filled by Him. The desires themselves are not evil, but if it is leading you away from God and into destructive habits there is some work to do. Turn to God and hand Him those desires. Allow God to fill in those God-sized holes.

3 - Look at what emotion you are trying to avoid. Journal it our and talk to God about how you are feeling.most people do not like negative emotions, so we just need to be extra aware and cognizant to address the emotions before they lead to unwanted habits. These negative emotions can sometimes be arising from frustrations that deep desires not being met by other people and not allowing God to fill them.

As you grow in uncovering your deeper desire and flushing out your emotions you may want to instead of just avoiding eating, come up with an activity to do. Think about painting, going for a walk, stretching. Try to do something to relax help you to destres get your parasympathetic nervous system or the rest and digest branch active.
