A lot of times they are just trying to make money and keep you longing for more pushing the carrot out a little further for to keep their clients buying…
Trust me, when I was a personal trainer my managers would talk to me A LOT about doing this. It was all about sales not health. They definitely did not want to help people to get healthy inside and out because people who are happy, healthy and content are not the best buyers.
It is easy to get sucked in especially because we are used to approaching our life like it is a bunch of fires. We run around trying to put out fires neglecting others and letting them grow until they NEED to be dealt with immediately.
The difference with a God centered way of life is approaching life more like a bon fire. There is ONE single focus, God. This allows you to see your life as whole and completely reliant on God, not in your ability to run around to put out fires.
It helps you to see the connection between areas of your life that you didn’t think were related. Best of all, this approach puts God back in His rightful place as the core foundation of your life.
When my clients start working with me they get a little confused about where to start. It makes sense, this approach is unlike anything they have ever tried. The best place to start is through prayer.
Prayer is not only a great way to quiet your mind and talk to God it is a great place to listen to God and get some guidance.
I wanted to help you out so I put together 3 of my favorite prayers for weight loss for you to pray and turn to as you start on this God-centered approach. Read through them and try to listen to God and see if He says anything to you.
Prayer for Weight Loss: Center Life on God
God, I be the rock and foundation of my life. Help me to build every part of my life on You and Your firm foundation.
Help me to see how connected my whole life is.
Allow me to see how important my connection with You is and how it impacts every area of my life.
Help me to see the value and the implications of the special times that You connect with me.
Help me to keep these important times devoted to You.
Help this time to cause a ripple effect into every area of my life. Including but not limited to my health and weight loss efforts.
God without You this will fail, but I need your perspective. I need a true revelation from you about how all the pieces of my life fit together.
Be patient with me as you guide me to change my focus and approach my life completely centered on you.
Prayer for Weight Loss: Healthy Relationship with Food
God, I have to admit that at times I do not feel like a good person based on my food choices and that I lower my self worth. Other times, when I am avoiding certain foods I get a sense of feeling better than others and raise my self worth.
I know that my value and self-worth is constant intellectually, as Your Word declares my position and purpose is secure in Jesus Christ. Although, I need help truly believing that and getting it into my heart.
I have learned an unhealthy relationship with food from a young age, but I ask that you break away that unhealthy relationship and replace it with one were food no longer has as much power over me.
Listening Prayer for Weight Loss: Goal and Vision
Take a couple of deep breathes.
Make a list of goals and things that you want to change.
Write them all down.
Who does this goal glorify?
What is my motivation behind this goal?
Then ask God, “What is your vision for my life and my future? What is my future hope to hold onto?”
Ask Him, “What do you want me to do or carry as I take on this vision?”
Write down what you think or feel like He is saying to you or showing you.
Ask Him, “What is my next step? What action steps would you like me to take to achieve this goal?”
Go back through your list crossing out or placing a date on certain goals to address later so you can focus on just this current season. Schedule and plan what God is leading you into this season.
Take the time necessary to connect with God and focus on Him during this journey. Continue to be open to hear from God, rely on His strength and trust Him to be your guide.
