Finding your Identity with Personality Quizzes
Personality quizzes can help you to see yourself in a different light. Answering some questions about how you react to certain things, make decisions, why you do things and how well you answer different questions can provide insight. There are so many quizzes out there with different results and insights. It would be wise to use caution while taking quizzes and applying them to your life.
We need to really examine what the Bible says about us as a framework to refer to throughout our life. We can easily get caught up in what media and cultural norms tells us, but really we need the Truth, we need God’s Word.
There are things that are true, but not the Truth about you because they change. For example, your age, your marital status and your job. You may be 35 year old, married women, mother of a 2 year old child, works for GEICO and enjoys yoga, which could be true, but will it be true next year?
Know God to Know Yourself
Knowing God is paramount to finding out why He made you and the intricate personality you have. You are made in God’s image, in order to get to know yourself you need to know Him your creator. He is alpha. He is the starting point to figure out who you are.
Who am I?
I am starting a series about finding your identity because it is very important not only for you, but for every life you will change. The questions of who are you and what you are passionate about can seem daunting, but it is possible and important to know. When you know yourself it will help immensely in your life during all the season you experience and this crazy roller-coaster we call life.
When you see this picture? What do you think about the person? What do you think about this person’s work ethic, intelligence, discipline, value to society and health?
There was recently a picture of someone with extra body fat posted in an advertisement and there was an uproar (link: https://www.yahoo.com/gma/gillette-posted-photo-plus-size-model-twitter-couldnt-014741290.html). I know with social media everything gets a big uproar, but we need to stop and think about how we view this person.
Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.
~ 1 John 2:15-16
We have a tendency to focus on temporary things that are not important in the grand scheme. It is extremely easy to get caught up with social media, what we look like, what other people think, our bank account, getting the car, getting the house and the list goes on. We start focusing on things that can be gone in an instant! Houses, reputations, looks, money can be gone in one tragic accident.
I have been really enjoying this song by Bryan & Katie Torwalt, especially after hearing them on the Jesus Culture podcast and hearing them talk about how they are in the middle and have not seen the fullness of God’s promises at this moment, but the confidence that they can still praise Him before they are at the end. I even liked them talking about them not having a full album to release it is 5 songs that are speaking to their hearts right now and feel y the Holy Spirit are meant for people to hear now instead of waiting until it is “complete.
